Empowering the Next Generation
A centre where faith, family and community come together to grow, belong and thrive.

A Community Hub for Austral
Austral Islamic Centre is more than a mosque, it’s a multi-purpose service hub for families, youth, and the wider community.
As Austral grows, so too does the need for spaces where people can connect, learn, and thrive. Our centre has been designed to provide exactly that – a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place where neighbours, families, and service partners come together.
Here you’ll find:
- Weekly youth gatherings and mentoring
- Childcare and after-school tuition
- Women’s fitness and learning spaces
- Counselling and wellbeing support
- Interfaith dialogue and cultural exchange
- Media studio for skills and storytelling
- Community BBQs and family days
Together, we’re building a centre that serves.

As a mother of two young children, I’m so excited for this centre to open. It will finally give our kids a safe place to learn, play and connect after school. Knowing they’ll have positive role models and a secure environment gives me so much peace of mind.

Brothers in Need
Having a place of worship close to home means so much for our community. It’s not just about prayer, it’s about having a space where we can gather, socialise, and support one another. This centre will be a true heart of the community.”

Our Partners & Supporters
The Austral Islamic Centre responds to this gap. Designed as a service-based hub, it combines a place of worship with education, social, and wellbeing services. Importantly, many services will be run in partnership with local organisations – ensuring the centre is open and relevant to everyone, regardless of faith.

FAQs
1. What services will the Austral Islamic Centre provide to the community?
The Centre will provide a wide range of services including a place of worship, a childcare centre, youth and education programs, tuition, fitness and wellbeing activities, and multipurpose spaces for community gatherings.
2. How will traffic and parking be managed during busy times, like Friday prayers or childcare drop-off and pick-up?
A traffic management plan has been prepared and approved. The site includes over 200 car parking spaces, clear entry/exit points, and designated drop-off zones to ensure traffic flows smoothly and safely during peak times.
3. Who can use the childcare centre, youth facilities, and tuition programs – are they open to everyone?
Yes. While the Centre is faith-inspired, its childcare, youth, and educational programs are open to all families in the community regardless of background or faith.
4. What measures are in place to minimise noise or other impacts on neighbours?
All activities are contained within the buildings, with no amplified outdoor noise. Acoustic reports confirm the design complies with council standards to protect the peace of surrounding residents.
5. How does this project support the growing population of Austral and Liverpool?
Austral’s population is set to grow from 10,000 to over 55,000 in the coming decades. This Centre will help meet urgent needs for childcare, youth facilities, places of worship, and community hubs long before council’s own facilities are delivered.
6. Will the centre provide opportunities for cultural exchange and interfaith dialogue?
Yes. The Centre will host open days, school excursions, interfaith programs, and exhibitions to encourage understanding, connection, and cultural sharing across the wider community.
7. How will the centre benefit local families, young people, and seniors?
Families will have access to childcare, youth will enjoy a safe indoor recreation space, and seniors will benefit from social programs and a welcoming community hub to connect with others.
8. Will the centre be available for community events and open days?
Absolutely. The facilities are designed to host open days, community celebrations, cultural programs, and educational workshops — ensuring the Centre becomes a true hub for all.
